Being a Small-Town Business in a Corporate World

Being a Small-Town Business in a Corporate World

Running a small-town business in today's world isn't always easy. Every day, we're competing with giant corporations that have unlimited advertising budgets, warehouses full of inventory, and the ability to offer prices that most small businesses simply can't match. It can feel overwhelming at times, but it's also what pushes us to be creative, work harder, and never stop dreaming.

When you own a small business, you wear every hat imaginable. You're the buyer, the designer, the cashier, the bookkeeper, the shipping department, the marketing team, the customer service representative, the janitor, and everything in between. There are no big departments to hand things off to—it's all done with heart, determination, and a lot of late nights.

One of the biggest challenges we face is constantly finding ways to stand out. We can't rely on million-dollar marketing campaigns, so instead, we rely on creativity. That's why you'll always see me trying new things. Whether it's introducing new products, hosting fun craft classes, offering live sales, decorating for every season, creating unique shopping experiences, or dreaming up the next exciting event, I'm always asking myself one question:

"How can I make shopping here even more fun?"

Sometimes those ideas are huge successes. Sometimes they're learning experiences. But every single one comes from wanting to create something special—not just another store, but a place people enjoy visiting, whether in person or online.

The wonderful thing about being a small business is something the big corporations can never duplicate...relationships.

I get to know my customers by name. I celebrate your milestones, hear about your families, laugh with you, and sometimes even cry with you. I get to create custom pieces that become part of your holidays, weddings, memorials, and life's biggest moments. Those connections mean more than any sales number ever could.

Shopping small also means your dollars stay close to home. They help support local families, local events, and our community. They allow small businesses to sponsor school events, donate to fundraisers, create local jobs, and keep our downtowns alive.

Every purchase—whether it's a ribbon, a wreath, a floral arrangement, a class registration, or even simply sharing one of our posts—makes a difference. It truly does.

As a business owner, there are days that are exhausting. There are moments filled with uncertainty, and there are times when you wonder if all the hard work is enough. But then someone walks through the door excited to see what's new, leaves a kind review, shares one of our posts, or chooses to shop local instead of clicking "Add to Cart" on a big-box website. Those moments remind me exactly why I started this journey.

To everyone who has supported my little dream—whether you've shopped with us once or a hundred times, attended a class, shared a post, recommended us to a friend, or simply cheered us on—thank you.

Your support means more than you'll ever know.

And while I'm thanking you, I'd also like to encourage everyone to continue supporting all small businesses. Every local coffee shop, boutique, restaurant, florist, bakery, craft store, service business, and family-owned shop is working hard to build something meaningful. Behind every small business is someone taking a chance, investing in a dream, and pouring their heart into serving their community.

Together, we help keep our small towns vibrant, unique, and full of life.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in small businesses, for believing in dreams, and for believing in mine.

Here's to many more creative ideas, fun events, beautiful products, and making memories together.

I can't wait to show you what comes next.
